LIGHT Impressions by East Yorkshire artist David Humphries will lead off the autumn exhibitions at the Blake Gallery, Blake Street, York.
Humphries, a former engineering businessman who ran a leading electronics company before turning to art full time, will be exhibiting 30 works in mixed media from October 3 to 18.
Diane Thornton, a regular on the Blake Gallery roster, will exhibit her new show, The Love Of Light, from October 25 to November 8, and York-born Trevor Neal, who lives in Sheffield, will have an exhibition in the last two weeks of November.
Gallery boss Michael Hourston plans to hold a studio sale on September 27 and 28, when works will be reduced in price by 20 per cent to 50 per cent. Participating artists confirmed so far are David Fisher, Mamdoh Badran, Paul Lewin and Julie Hourston.
On show and for sale at the gallery at present are etchings, original paintings and books by Askrigg artist Piers Browne, bronzes by Sally Arnup and paintings by Walter Holmes, Caroline Riley and Justin Tew, among others. Harrogate-born Douglas Gray, a former poster designer for Athena, will be also added to that list.
In Autumn 2004, Piers Browne will have a solo show at the gallery. Gallery opening hours are 10am to 5pm daily, except Sundays and Tuesdays.
