HARROGATE Town extended their UniBond League premier division winning run to four games last night with a 2-1 win over Blyth Spartans.
Cameron Stuart marked his Wetherby Road debut with a wonderful 30-yard volley to give Town-- who had earlier seen player-coach Neil Aspin limp off - the lead four minutes before half-time.
Colin Hunter was denied by the goalkeeper following more good work by Stuart shortly after the restart. Town doubled their lead when Stuart's free-kick just outside the box was blocked for Mark Ford to volley home the rebound.
Blyth, who had looked dangerous throughout, hit back five minutes later thanks to another spectacular volley, this time from Laws 35 yards out.
The visitors continued to press but Harrogate held on to claim third place in the table.
Selby Town increased their lead at the top of the Northern Counties East League premier division by winning a five-goal thriller at Mickleover Sports thanks to a late penalty save from Matt Potter.
The unbeaten Robins took a first-minute lead through summer signing Tom Matthews and doubled it after seven with a strike from former York City striker Steve Ward.
Mickleover came out the stronger side in the second half and were rewarded with two quick goals to level, but with just ten minutes left Ward grabbed his second to make it 3-2 and Potter's spot-kick heroics kept it that way.
