I READ with amusement the letter from Mr EJ Deighton regarding the City of York Council and developers altering the style and function of our city (August 28).
Mr Deighton may be right, perhaps we should sit back and let the developers ruin our city: look at the long term benefits - fewer tourists, less congestion, less rubbish on the streets, less cost to the council, more room for locals to move around town.
More flats will mean more council tax, so that may mean a cut in bills for residents. No open spaces means less maintenance for the council.
Come on Mr Deighton, don't let them grind you down, drink a can of Red Bull and get back into the fight.
Remember Woolfie Smiff? "Power to the people!".
