AS TEMPERATURES rose across North Yorkshire, thousands of people were converging on a Ryedale village for its 84th annual show.

Thornton-le-Dale show, which has previously pulled in crowds of 10,000, was expected to do the same this year, with an exciting array of displays and attractions on offer.

Topping the list this year were the Horsemen Of The Apocalypse, billed as "probably the most exciting live horse stunt show you will ever see".

Other attractions included falconry, mountain and motorbike stunt riding, vintage cars and an extensive range of trade stands.

There were also show classes for cows, sheep, pigs, goats and horses with more than 140 trophies to be won and cash prizes in more than 400 classes.

Show publicity officer Michael Mycroft said: "It is this particular and unique blend of social interaction, which so characterises the show and gives it its distinctive, relaxed, friendly family atmosphere."

"It continues well into the evening with terrier racing and working terrier show, lurcher show, junior show jumping, children's fancy dress and sports events."

See tomorrow's Evening Press for results and pictures from the show.
