Now that York Minster admission charges are a fait accompli, there is a grave danger that those responsible will be allowed to get off the hook.
The satisfaction expressed by the present incumbents with the "success" of the change suggests this is the hope.
I hope the income generated is greater than the cost of providing and administering the free pass system (yet a further example of the level of administrative expertise displayed when the existing York Card could have been utilised?) A full and exhaustive audit of all Minster funds must now be carried out by the Charity Commission to determine who was responsible for the disgraceful deterioration in the state of the funds and bring them to book.
