Tim Easterby is relying on the superior talents of champion jockey Kieren Fallon to get the tricky Only One Legend home in front at Pontefract tomorrow.

The Great Habton trainer has booked the country's top rider to partner the sprinter in the Chaplins Club Handicap over five furlongs, a race run in honour of the former David Chapman-trained speedster, who was such a prolific winner for owner Peter Savill.

Only One Legend is likely to put Fallon's talents to a severe test. A horse who likes to be held up for a late run, he is inclined to pull up if he's in front a moment longer than necessary, as indeed he was on this course last time.

Partnered on that occasion by Irish champion Johnny Murtagh, who was paying a rare visit to Pontefract, Only One Legend was produced to lead inside the final furlong, but was worried out of it close to home as long-time leader Siraj fought back to clinch the verdict by a head.

"Wait as long as you dare," will be Easterby's orders to Fallon tomorrrow as Only One Legend bids to go one better. It promises to be nail-biting stuff.

Fallon, top jockey at last week's Goodwood Festival, has a choice book of mounts tomorrow and is fancied to land the feature race on the card, the £20,000 Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel Handicap on High Action.

Winner of a maiden race at Brighton, High Action was subsequently found wanting in a handicap at Doncaster, finishing only fourth.

But that race, run over ten furlongs, produced a dawdle of a gallop and Sir Michael Stoute's colt was unable to produce the sprint finish required. He will be much more at home over tomorrow's extra quarter-mile.

Rossellini (2-50) and Auditorium (3-55) can be another brace of winners for Stoute and Fallon in the maiden races.

The nap vote is awarded to Court Of Appeal in the Bollinger Champagne Challenge Series Handicap for amateur riders.

Trained by Brian Ellison, Court Of Appeal, a winner at Chester in May, returned from a five-week break to finish a creditable fourth at Ripon recently. Likely to have benefitted from that outing, he is strongly fancied to prove too good for his rivals here.

At Newcastle, Flyoff is taken to complete a hat-trick of wins in the Garforth Decorating And Building Services Handicap.

Kevin Morgan's gelding has struck a rich seam of form recently and had five lengths to spare at Yarmouth on his latest outing. He can oblige again.

Major Danger, a good second at Ayr three weeks ago, looks the one to be on in the carshow.uk.com Nursery Handicap. George Duffield again takes the mount on Sir Mark Prescott's progressive juvenile.
