RESIDENTS are being asked to put safety first as part of proposals
to introduce "school safety zones" to three primary schools in York.
Proposals are being put forward to improve entrances to schools making
them a safer environment for children, at Burton Green, Tang Hall and Clifton Green primary schools.
Plans for the schemes include Keep Clear markings outside the entrances to the schools, applying red surfacing to the roads to highlight
the presence of the schools, and introducing a 20mph speed limit at the entrance to Tang Hall Primary School.
Safety officials also plan to
advocate a no stopping order during drop-off and pick-up times to make crossing the road safer for children.
Residents in the surrounding areas of all three schools are being consulted, and any concerns about the proposals will be put to councillors on September 11.
