I KNEW biker Tony Berry (Evening Press, July 28) and he was not the type of rider who would "fly around with total disregard for safety or that of others".
When he was at the Sun Inn, near Otley, a few months ago, he overheard bikers complaining about the visible police presence around the pub that night "spoiling their fun".
"Didn't you see the flowers on your way up here?" he asked. "Someone died a couple of nights ago when a car pulled out of a lay by."
He knew what enjoyment could be had from motorcycling and would have been the first to say that it came with a responsibility to others.
You would not have written what you did if you had known the man behind the news report.
