TWO train operators have joined forces to create a team with the skills and expertise to deal with any serious rail incidents across the north-east of England.
GNER and Arriva Trains Northern have created a dedicated Critical Incident Response Team that will help ensure people who are involved in a serious incident - and their families - receive the support they need.
The team, comprising 30 people from each operator, has been through a detailed and realistic training course designed to help them help people through the trauma of a rail incident.
Training was delivered by Aviem International who are leaders in the field of dealing with transport incidents and have carried out training for a number of leading airline companies.
The people who volunteered for the team hold a variety of roles within the businesses and will be available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
It means that, should the need arise, one operator will immediately deploy its employees to support the other.
