VISITORS are expected to flock to Pickering for a special event which is already steaming along quite nicely.
The Pickering Traction Engine Rally kicked off this morning, with more than a thousand exhibitors and hundreds of impressive machines on show.
People from all over the country are expected to attend this year's event, which runs until Sunday.
Organiser Simon Boak said he hoped the thousands of visitors would fall for Ryedale's charms.
He felt that the four-day event was an essential boost to the district's tourism industry.
Gates open each day at 9am and on Saturday stay open late into the night for a fireworks display at dusk.
Entry costs £6 for adults, £5 for concessions and £3 for children under 16. Under-fives were admitted free and family tickets for two adults and three children cost £15.
