TOP students from Canon Lee School, in York, are giving up their holidays to boost their learning in a "gifted and talented" programme.
More than 20 youngsters from years seven and eight are spending almost two weeks at a summer school learning dance, drama, art and music as part of the programme run by City of York Council.
The summer school is taking place at Canon Lee, and also includes youngsters from nearby primary schools who will move up in September.
Dave Foster, programme co-ordinator, said: "The event is an opportunity for brighter kids to be pushed and stretched.
"What they are doing is quite demanding. They have to do things they would not normally do."
