YORK City Knights half-back Scott Rhodes was set to see the club's doctor today to assess the damage to his left knee.
In-form Rhodes was stretched off the pitch just nine minutes in to the Knights' 25-18 defeat by Sheffield Eagles at the weekend. However, swelling around the injury has meant Rhodes has not been able to get an exact diagnosis, although the signs from the early prognosis are not encouraging with fears that the former Hull FC star has damaged the ligaments.
The 23-year-old Scottish international will now see the club's own doctor, before potentially being referred to a specialist.
Chief executive Steve Ferres said: "It is not looking too good. Scott will see our doctor today.
"Hopefully the swelling with have gone down enough to assess the injury, but it is likely he will have to see a specialist. It is too early to say what the injury could be, and we will have to see what happens, but it does look like he has damaged the ligaments."
Joining Rhodes is facing missing Sunday's trip to Gateshead Thunder is player-assistant-coach Graeme Hallas, with the former Great Britain tourist struggling with a groin strain.
The Knights will be running a supporters' coach for the match, with it set to leave Huntington Stadium at 11.30am on Sunday with the following pick up points: New Lane 11.35am; Dodsworth Avenue 11.40am; Clarence Street 11.45am; Blossom Street (Odeon) 11.55am.
