YORK bowls player Michelle Mooring helped England take the Under-25 Women's Junior Home International championship in Edinburgh.
Mooring, who plays outdoor bowls for the Bert Keech club in York, was a rink skip in the clash with Scotland and though her rink lost 19-15 England drew with match 76-76 to take the title on shots difference. England and Scotland ended with five points each from the series, but England got the trophy with a shots difference of plus 62 while the Scots were plus 24.
Amy Monkhouse, who plays during the winter at York Indoor Bowls Club, was representing England in the Under-25 Women's British Isles Championships, but lost 21-16 in the semi-finals to Welsh player L Foley, who went on to take the title, beating her Irish opponent in the final.
