CHILDREN are being offered the chance to learn about all aspects of theatre, from set design to acting, in a workshop taking place in New Earswick.
The week-long workshop is aimed at children aged between eight and 13, and will take place at the Folk Hall from August 4.
Children will learn about lighting, sound, acting, movement and music in the workshop which aims to help build their self-confidence and make new friends.
Artistic director Nicola Carew said: "As a parent who has witnessed the effects of bullying first hand, I know the importance of building a child's confidence and self esteem.
"Within the safe space of this course, using a selection of carefully-selected games and exercises, we will devise a final production, loosely based on the story of Pinocchio, that explores the themes of friendship, acceptance and respect of peers."
All proceeds raised from the public performance on Friday, August 15, will go towards helping children in Zimbabwe, a cause Nicola's son, Callum, has been raising money for.
A video will be made of the production and sent to Zimbabwe so children can see how their English friends are helping them.
There are still places available. No experience is necessary, only enthusiasm and a willingness to work as part of a team.
