WILDLIFE enthusiasts are being invited to join in a bat bonanza, with the help of BTCV (British Trust for Conservatioon Volunteers) North Yorkshire and a local expert on the aerial mammals.
They are inviting people to experience possibly the largest pipistrelle bat roost in North Yorkshire - with more than 300 bats - resident in BTCV's own premises at the Apple Loft, Kiplin Hall, Scorton, near Northasllerton.
They will help their guests build their own bat box to take home, and visitors can listen and talk to the bat expert, and watch the bats leave the loft at dusk.
There are two dates available - Saturday, August 9, and Wednesday, August 13.
Both events start at 5pm and finish at 10pm. Tickets are adults £6, children £3. Children must be accompanied by an adult and the price includes one bat box per adult (further boxes can be purchased at additional cost). Hot and cold drinks will be provided.
Please bring some warm clothing, something to sit on to watch the bats (picnic chair or stool) and your own picnic/supper, as time will be made available to eat during the evening. Numbers will be limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
