CHILDCARE in East Yorkshire has received a boost of more than £22,000.
A total of £22,396 has been received from the national lottery's New Opportunities Fund to improve childcare. The cash boost will lead to the creation of an extra 48 childcare places in the Pocklington area.
The funding will enable Pocklington's Montessori School to create a further 24 all-year places for before and after school care and holidays for seven to 11-year-olds.
Pocklington Pop Club will now be able to offer eight more before school places. Melbourne School will be offering another 16 after school places.
A spokesperson from East Riding of Yorkshire Council said: "Good quality childcare in the East Riding of Yorkshire is continuing to expand and develop to keep up with the demand from parents who want to go to work or study, safe in the knowledge that their children are being well catered for."
