A RETIRED British Rail worker is the new president of Selby Lions.
Michael Meanwell, 65, of Camblesforth, takes over from David Jones, with a pledge to try to increase the club's membership.
Father-of-two Mr Meanwell used to work as a personnel manager for British Rail, in Doncaster.
His wife, Patricia, an administrator at Carlton Towers, is a member of Selby Soroptimists, the local businesswomen's club.
Mr Meanwell, who was Lions' president five years ago, said: "My first priority is to increase membership so we can raise more money for local good causes."
