A Selby teenager has been given a conditional discharge for two years after she admitted swearing in front of police officers.
Leanne Pentland, 18, was heard to swear loudly at a group of males, near the In-Shops, Selby, by two police officers on July 19.
Louise Reevell, prosecuting, told Selby magistrates that Pentland, of Cockret Road, Selby, was warned by the officers and apologised.
But Pentland was later heard to use racially-abusive language in nearby New Lane.
She was arrested, but continued to be verbally abusive.
Linda Wood, mitigating, said Pentland had been involved in some very stressful family situations, involving her children. She had also been suffering from acute depression.
When asked by presiding magistrate Sheila Bruce whether she had been drinking, Pentland said she had.
Mrs Bruce said: "This sounds like a very foolish incident. We are prepared to give you a conditional discharge for two years. You must keep out of trouble."
Pentland was also ordered to pay £40 costs.
