THE Archbishop of York, Dr David Hope, has thrown open his home to young campers.
More than 55 children aged between nine and 11 are once again camping in the grounds of Bishopthorpe Palace for a week of fun, games and to learn more about the Christian faith.
Several years ago Dr Hope invited organisers of the Explorer Camps to pitch tents in his garden over the summer.
Organiser, the Rev Derek Wooldridge, said: "We're having a fantastic time - this is real Christianity.
"The palace is a very useful resource and Dr Hope takes a great interest and loves to get involved when he is in residence."
Campers have enjoyed a range of sports and games including "human table football" and a day out in York to the Railway Museum.
