THE life of York's Lord Mayor was being experienced at first hand today when his home was opened to the public.
The first '"At Home" of the civic year offered local people the chance to visit the Mansion House and to chat to the new civic party, including the Lord Mayor Councillor Chas Hall.
According to tradition, it is at the first "At Home" of the civic year that the Lady Mayoress' staff of office is handed over.
This historic ceremony was being carried out as part of the day's proceedings.
Coun Hall said: "It's a real honour to be able to use one of the most beautiful buildings in the city during my year in office and it's great to be able to share the building with the people of York."
