YORK Acorn ARL team begin their preparations for the National Conference League division two season with a home friendly against Hull Dockers on Saturday (2.30pm kick-off).
Heworth, who have begun training for the new season, are on the look-out for new players for any of their teams.
The open age side and the Under-17s train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.45pm at their Elm Park Way base.
The Under-13s and 15s train on Wednesdays at 6.55pm, and the Under-8s and 9s on Tuesdays at 6.30pm.
The club are also looking for someone to coach the under-8s next season. Anyone wanting details should contact Carl Deighton on 01904 424217 or Phil Sturdy on 01904 416542.
Heworth Under-8s produced their best display of their season in their latest match against a good Normanton side, despite losing.
Jamie Barlway was man of the match with Alex Clough running him close. Billy Legge topped the tackle count.
Heworth Emerging Under-8s also lost to Normanton in a lively game. Nathan Hammerton was prominent after a long absence, with good support from Liam Forshaw and George Churchill.
