STREET cleaners in York have received National Vocational Qualifications for polishing up their working skills.
Seventeen members of York council's Street Scene team were presented with certificates by Councillor Irene Waudby, the elected member responsible for commercial services.
The successful candidates volunteered to take part in the NVQ programme, which involved carrying out their normal duties in the presence of an assessor.
They also submitted a portfolio for evaluation, containing details about their training history and evidence of completed work.
Coun Waudby is pictured with some of the cleaners who took part in the NVQ programme.
