THE 178th (Summer) Exhibition of the York Art Society at the Guildhall, York, was closing today.
A total of 281 paintings were submitted and 215 were judged by independent assessors as being worthy of inclusion. Most of the works on display were for sale and all were produced by members of the York Art Society.
At the review evening, society members and the public present judged a watercolour by Peter Geraghty, depicting York Minster in the snow, to be the best work in the show.
