A Selby dancer who has dreams of performing in the West End has won a prestigious competition.
Gabrielle Russell, 12, of Brayton, came first in the North and West Yorkshire Modern Championships last week, impressing judges with her Modern Jazz dance moves. Gabrielle, the youngest performer in the Harrogate competition, competed against other 12 to 15-year-olds to win a trophy and a plaque.
The Selby High School pupil has been dancing since she was four, and has ambitions to dance professionally in the West End.
Gabrielle's mum, Alison, said: "I'm extremely proud of her. It has made her year."
