WITH Chris Silverwood all set to return after injury and Darren Gough back in the Test squad, Yorkshire should be able to play their most successful trio of fast bowlers in the Championship match against Hampshire at Scarborough tomorrow.
Silverwood was Yorkshire's leading wicket-taker with 23 dismissals before standing down from the last two games with a sore heel but he has since been overhauled by Steven Kirby and Ryan Sidebottom who have 33 wickets apiece.
The recent phenomenal form of Kirby has seen him claim 25 victims in the last three games while Sidebottom has managed 15 over the same period and the inclusion of Silverwood at North Marine Road should sharpen Yorkshire's cutting edge even further.
"Chris got in some useful overs in two Academy matches over the weekend and is looking very good," said Yorkshire coach Kevin Sharp.
Silverwood was also scheduled to play in a Steve Oldham testimonial match at Woodhouse Grange today, so should be back to peak fitrness against Scarborough.
The match against York and District Senior League side Grange was scheduled to start at 2pm.
Although both Kirby and Sidebottom bowled well at Durham last week when Yorkshire suffered a shock three-wicket defeat, Gough was well below his best and two wickets for 145 runs in the match did not help his side's cause.
Gough did, however, convince England's selectors that he is fit enough now for a Test recall and Yorkshire may feel relieved that they are not obliged to give him another run out at Scarborough which would mean dropping someone else.
Matthew Wood reverts to leading Yorkshire in the absence Anthony McGrath, who has deservedly held on to his Test place, and either Tim Bresnan or left-hander Vic Craven will come in for the regular captain.
Craven is the specialist batsman who bowls useful medium-pacers while Bresnan is the specialist seamer whose batting is coming on in leaps and bounds and last week he scored a century for the second team in their rain-hit draw with Lancashire at Stamford Bridge.
YORKSHIRE (v Hampshire) from: Wood, Fleming, Yuvraj Singh, Lumb, White, Craven, Guy, Gray, Bresnan, Silverwood, Sidebottom, Kirby.
