MANY residents will remember the Liberal Democrats' headline promise of £100 cashback during the election campaign this spring.
When, at this month's full council meeting, I asked Coun MacDonald, the new executive member for resources, when York residents could expect to receive their £100 rebate, through their letterboxes, my question was dismissed and I was informed that "£100 Off Council Tax" - their leaflet headline - was not what they had meant at all.
York people will not be receiving this money. Apparently I was nave in taking the Lib Dems' words at face value, and I really should have read the small print.
I wonder how many of your readers were misled into thinking that the Lib/Dems really meant what they said in their election literature ?
How many will now feel duped?
Clearly, I was too trusting of our new civic leaders!
Coun Sandy Fraser,
Labour, Micklegate Ward,
