SONGBIRD Carrie Winfield has won a day of star treatment after singing her way to success in a national competition.
The 13-year-old Sherburn High School pupil beat thousands of hopefuls to win the Smash Hits magazine's national karaoke competition - scooping a recording studio session in London and a celebrity makeover.
Carrie's rendition of I Do Love You, by LeAnn Rymes, won her stacks of votes in a nationwide phone poll earlier this month.
Carrie was one of five finalists to record a song for the Smash Hits phoneline, where callers could vote for their favourite after listening to exerts from each of the contestants.
Previously, Carrie was one of the final 40 from more than 17,000 youngsters who auditioned to form pop group S Club Juniors.
S Club singer Bradley McIntosh, had told Carrie's mum, Janet, the teenager should keep singing as she would have a fantastic solo career.
Mrs Winfield, of Pinfold Avenue, Sherburn-in-Elmet, said: "She's ecstatic. We were both in tears.
"I'm so proud of her, I decorated the house with balloons for when she got home from school."
Carrie hopes to receive the date for her recording session by the end of the month.
