YORK youngsters are being encouraged to take the plunge, without having to splash out, this summer.
Young people aged 15 and below are being offered the chance to swim for only £1 in the city's pools.
The offer is available at the Barbican, Edmund Wilson and Yearsley Grove swimming pools, from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm, up until Sunday, August 31.
Shane Chalmers, the head of Total Leisure Management which runs the pools for the council, said: "We are delighted to offer specially-reduced swimming admissions to all children aged 15 and under this summer holiday. We are committed to achieving affordable leisure to youngsters over the summer break."
