Strensall, winner of the Tote Placepot Showcase Handicap at Catterick a year ago, is napped to give an encore tomorrow.

The star of Ronnie Barr's small North Yorkshire stable, Strensall has drawn the plum position in stall one in the twelve-runner field.

The six-year-old has run some cracking races in defeat this season, most notably when third in a competitive handicap, won by Talbot Avenue, at York two outings ago.

Strensall is at his best on a sharp course and he is strongly fancied to show his rivals a clean pair of heels.

Allegedly looks the one to be on in the Darlington Building Society Nursery Handicap.

Pat Haslam's youngster has finished in the frame in all his three starts and enters his first handicap on a reasonable mark.

Furthermore, he will have the assistance of smart apprentice Dominic Fox, who claims a valuable 5lb.

David Nicholls won the Leyburn Claiming Stakes last season with The Tatling, and the Thirsk trainer has every chance of following up tomorrow with American Cousin.

The eight-year-old will be partnered by trainer's son Adrian Nicholls, who showed himself to be in top form when riding two winners at Beverley last night.

John Dunlop is having a quiet summer by his high standards, but the Arundel trainer looks to have found a good opportunity for Golden Skiis in the Darlington Operatic Society Maiden Stakes.

The mount of Gary Carter, Golden Skiis chased home the favourite Misterando at Chepstow last time and left the impression that a race such as tomorrow's would be within her grasp.

The Catterick programme finishes with the Willie Carson-Pinker's Pond Apprentice Handicap, which commemorates the first winner ridden by the five-times champion jockey on this course back in the 1960s.

Fittingly, the race is for riders who have never ridden a winner, so tomorrow promises to be special for at least one aspiring jockey. My vote goes to recent Hamilton winner Sharoura, trained by Richard Fahey, whose horses are in top form.

Kieren Fallon, who had mixed fortunes at Ayr yesterday - the big winner, plus a two-day ban - looks to be the man to follow at Sandown tomorrow evening.

The champion jockey has a host of fancied mounts and can score on Capped For Victory (6.45), Super Song (7.15), Arzoo (7.45) and Fourth Dimension (8.15).

Fallon is to appeal against his two-day ban for careless riding, which comes right in the middle of Glorious Goodwood next week.

He is disputing the decision following his win in the Group Two Daily Record Scottish Derby on Sir Michael Stoute's Princely Venture.

As it is only a two-day ban it can be deferred if there is a Group One race on any of those days, so he will be sidelined on July 31 and August 1 and will therefore be able to ride in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on July 30, the day the ban would have normally started.

The stewards decided that Princely Venture had interfered with fourth-placed Private Charter as a result of Fallon being careless.
