A horticultural show which arose out of a gardeners' argument about who had the biggest cabbages has enjoyed another successful year.
The Copmanthorpe Horticultural Show, now in its sixth year, attracted entries both traditional and unusual from local people of all ages.
Forty-eight classes of flowers, fruit and vegetables were on display on Saturday, including a new category for under-11s, a single flower in an unusual container.
Inventive ideas ranged from a flower in a boot to a flower in a moulded vinyl record.
Denis Kidd, one of the show organisers, said it had been a real team effort to stage such a successful event.
He said: "We had glorious weather, attracting many visitors to Copmanthorpe's sixth horticultural show, which has become a feature of the Copmanthorpe summer season.
"And all the entries were up to the usual standard."
The trophies were handed out by Professor Gareth Rees, principal of Askham Bryan College.
