A LONG-running village show which is "steeped in tradition" attracted thousands of visitors with its wide range of events.
The Bishop Wilton Show, which has been held in the village near Pocklington for 105 years, was again staged on Saturday.
Horses, horticulture and history were presented side by side, together with a half marathon and a variety of stalls and displays. Nancie Boyes, assistant secretary of the show, said: "It was a huge success - the crowds and the atmosphere on the showground were absolutely wonderful.
"The weather was superb, it was just perfect."
Runner Neil Cayton, of Otley Athletic Club, was the fastest male and Christine McCarthy, of Kippax Harriers, the fastest female, recording times of 76min 5sec and 99min and 30sec respectively. The winning athletic team was Bridlington Roadrunners and the winning non-athletic team was Bombardier Transportation, the Wakefield-based train builders which also sponsored the event.
