Ryedale apprentice jockey Tony Hamilton, who stole the show with a double at Ripon on Saturday, can again play a starring role at Ayr tomorrow.
The 20-year-old claimer teams-up with Mr Fortywinks in the Brodick Bay Handicap, and I fancy the gelding, winner of the corresponding race last year, to give an encore.
Mr Fortywinks is trained at Norton by Brian Ellison, who, successful at Market Rasen on Saturday with Gue Au Loup, also scored at Ripon with Conquering Love, who was the highlight of Hamilton's double, completed by the James Bethell-trained Rookwith.
While Conquering Love might now take in next month's Tote-Ebor Handicap on Knavesmire, such lofty targets are behind Mr Fortywinks at the age of nine.
That said, this sprightly veteran is not yet ready for retirement, judged on his recent third-placed effort at Doncaster. A bold show is anticipated tomorrow.
Kieren Fallon has a good record for Glasgow trainer Jim Goldie and the champion jockey's appearance on at least two of Goldie's runners tomorrow merit attention.
In the Stinchar Falls Classified Stakes, Fallon teams-up with Albashoosh, who underlined his well-being with a good run at York recently. The five-year-old finished sixth to Kareeb in a competitive handicap over tomorrow's distance of seven furlongs. He should go well.
Lucayan Dancer is another Fallon-Goldie representative in the Prestwick Handicap, and this formerly smart juvenile, who has run respectably under some tough conditions this season, is expected to make a bold attempt.
In the Highland Showcase Handicap over a mile, Blue Star is napped to oblige for apprentice Luke Fletcher and Cheshire trainer Michael Mullineaux, who was recently on the mark on Knavesmire with Talbot Avenue.
Blue Star, also a York winner last autumn, has given signs recently of returning to form. He has plenty going for him here.
Over the sticks at Sedgefield, Billie John can defy top-weight in the Ingrid Flute Holiday Accomodation Agency Handicap Chase.
Kate Walton's charge looked an unlucky loser at Perth on his latest start, coming down at the final fence when holding a two-length lead and looking every inch a potential winner. Compensation awaits him.
Also worth noting at Sedgefield are the Irish raider Allstar Leader (3.30) and recent winner Hirayna (4.30).
Tomorrow's tips:
Ayr
2.15 Kirkstone, 2.45 Speedfit Free, 3.15 Blue Star (Nap), 3.45 Albashoosh, 4.15 Mr Fortywinks, 4.45 Lucayan Dancer.
Sedgefield
2.00 Pebble Way, 2.30 Gone Too Far, 3.00 The Merry Mason, 3.30 Allstar Leader, 4.00 Billie John, 4.30 Hirayna.
Tom O'Ryan's Nap for today's racing was: King Tara (2.45 at Ayr). O'Ryan's Nap on Saturday, Definite Guest, won at 7-1 at Newbury.
