MY 11-year-old grandson and I love the theatre. I was hoping to take him to see the York Mystery Plays next year, he is just the right age to enjoy them.
If we wait until 2010, he will be a teenager and not so keen to go anywhere with granny.
A ten-year cycle is too long, whole generations will miss out on one of York's premier attractions. The plays in the Minster were a one-off Millennium spectacular - I've never seen anything so magnificent.
The four-year cycle of plays must be preserved in our special city. Without them, and other historical assets, we are in danger of becoming a quaint "one-stop shopping mall" with look-alike shops and disappointing caf bars.
This is a special city so don't take the heart out of it. Its citizens and visitors occasionally need food for the soul as well as shopping!
