Rather than telling York residents to walk while race-goers clog the streets with their cars, the new electronic message boards could instruct the race-goers to ditch their cars at the various Park and Rides then take the bus.
The messages boards could also be used to tell people to come into the city centre to shop, rather than go to one of the various out-of-town developments previously promoted by the City of York Council. But it still beggars belief that city centre shops moan about takings when the streets are jam-packed every Saturday.
