THREE York whistle-blowers look set to make the grade in rugby league refereeing after being picked for a national training camp.
The trio of Tom Benson, Shane Daniel and Gareth Evans, plus Tyneside's Craig Swanson, who are all members of the York and District Rugby League Referees' Association, have come through area and regional camps to qualify for the national weekend camp to be held in Warrington later this month.
A fifth member of YDRLRA, Lee Arthur, also made it to the regional camp.
Match official development officer Stuart Evans said the quartet had shown the necessary attitude, knowledge, skills, reports, fitness and code of conduct to progress, and he hoped they would now make it through to an elite camp later this year.
