FAREWELLS were being said in schools across the York area for teachers who were retiring or moving on to new appointments.
At Naburn School, head teacher Verna Campbell was retiring after 14 years.
To mark the occasion and celebrate the end of the year pupils from the school performed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in Naburn Village Hall.
At Manor CE School, it was goodbye for two teachers who have clocked up almost 40 years' service between them.
Head of history Richard Evans and head of English Karen Gott joined the school in 1984.
Head teacher Brian Crosby, said: "Their many years of unstinting service have been a great blessing to the school."
At Bishopthorpe, Archbishop of York's CE Junior School said goodbye to teacher Rosemary Fletcher, who was retiring after 27 years. Head teacher Dean Beecham said: "She is very highly respected, in the staff room and in the community."
At Dunnington, Jean Empson was retiring from the after-school club after almost ten years. Jean had been co-ordinating the club since it started in 1994 and enjoyed a party with parents and children.
