PUPILS at Selby Abbey Primary school have raised more than £3,000 with a penalty shoot-out competition.
The event was organised with the help of York City Football In The Community, with all proceeds going towards refurbishing the school playground and to the football in the community initiative.
Goal-scoring champions in each class were named penalty kings and queens, and 79 footballs signed by York City players were presented to children who raised more than £25. Star fundraiser Adam Parkin, nine, single-handedly raised £250 in the shoot-out.
