POLICE have handed out leaflets to more than 100 residents and businesses in a desperate effort to trace a missing pensioner.
Christopher Hanby was last seen in Norton, close to his Parliament Street home, on May 23.
The 62-year-old, who had been suffering from depression, took little cash with him and his bank accounts have been untouched since.
Ryedale's community support officers have now delivered 150 leaflets to people in the area.
Community support officer Bob Ogier said: "We have been dropping the leaflets off in the catchment area near to his home and spreading out from there really.
"We are also going to local taxi firms, train and bus stations."
Officers are growing increasingly concerned for the pensioner, who has been missing for eight weeks.
"If people can just check yards and undergrowth near their homes for any signs it will be a help," he said.
"We have not had a single sighting."
Mr Hanby is 5ft 5in tall, thin, with dark-brown, short, hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information which may help officers with their search is asked to phone the Ryedale Witness Line on 01723 509662.
