A Selby man punched his mother after a night of drinking with friends, a court was told.
The town's magistrates heard that Craig Maughan, 20, of Charles Street, Selby, returned home after drinking in town with friends.
Jane Pattison, mitigating, said there had been an argument between Maughan and his mother, which had turned into something "quite nasty". She said it was not something that would be repeated again. A charge of assault was withdrawn after Maughan agreed to be bound over to keep the peace for a year in the sum of £200.
