Dunnington won the final of the York and District Junior Cricket Association Under-15 President's Cup by beating Heworth by 14 runs.

Despite losing prolific batsman Jack Bolam cheaply, Dunnington were able to set a daunting total of 137-5.

Adam Iyer hit an aggressive 55 and Jonathan Bairstow a stylish 43, while Dan Walton was the pick of Heworth's bowlers with 1-16 from five overs.

Heworth started well with Walton striking two boundaries in the first over only to fall in the second to a brilliant leg side stumping by Bairstow. Jonny Flint was bowled a few balls later by Dunnington's best bowler, Mike Marley (3-22).

Heworth were rescued by a fine stand between Stephen Sacks and Tim Peet, but just as they got in to a winning position Sacks was caught on the mid-wicket boundary looking to put up his 50 with a six and fell for 48.

With Peet run out for 19, Heworth's challenge faded and they closed on 123-5.

Guy Mitchell, president of the Junior Association, presented the cup.
