YORK man Andy Plowman showed he had plenty of the Write Stuff - by scooping a job as a trainee reporter on the Evening Press.
Andy, 21, battled it out with a number of other hopefuls in the Evening Press Write Stuff
competition for a job on the paper.
An English language and linguistics graduate of the University of York, Andy said winning the competition was the start of a lifetime's ambition for him.
And, who worked on the university newspaper, Nouse, for three years, editing, reporting and writing reviews, said: "I was delighted to win, really made up.
"It feels really good to get my foot on the first rung of the journalistic ladder."
Born in York, he knows the area well and is looking forward to seeing his first story printed.
Evening Press assistant editor Chris Buxton wished Andy well in his new career.
He said: "We were delighted at the number of people who entered the competition this year, and impressed with the exceptional calibre of all the entrants.
"Well done to Andy."
