YOUNG fans of the BBC's CBeebies output will be spoilt for choice this summer by a flood of titles. New books based on the adventures of the Teletubbies and the Tweenies should keep tiny tots occupied.

In the Teletubbies range, a good choice for older children would be the Very Busy Day Activity Book (£2.99) full of pictures to draw, objects to match, dots to trace, mazes and spot the difference games.

Keep toddlers amused with the Clever Noo-noo! board book in which Noo-noo stars as a felt finger puppet popping through the centre of each page to 'Hoover' up all the mess Tinky Winky and co make while making Teletubby custard. My one-year-old daughter Eva was scared at first by Noo-noo but now she loves it.

Her favourite show is Fimbles, where three stripy friends have fun discovering hidden objects in a magical forest. But the book spin-offs are a disappointment. They are large and flimsy and recount episodes from the series through stills. Fun, pop-up and lift-and-see books would work better. The BBC is promising just such a book in the autumn, so save your money.

For value the new Tweenies stories are hard to beat at £1.99. They are a child-friendly size, colourful and with good stories too. Eva just loves I'm Stuck in which Doodles the dog gets stuck up a tree and the Tweenies dream up various daft ideas to rescue him.

Unfortunately, Andy Pandy's Big Spring Clean in which Andy Pandy, Looby Loo and Teddy get out the dusters and brooms has less impact. Nevertheless, the book, based on the new animated Andy Pandy programme, is full of charming pastel pictures with easy-to-read text and will be loved by older tots.
