DUNNINGTON beat bottom team Riccall 67-41 to improve their position at the top of Tyke Petroleum Men's League division one. Trevor Loten and Andy Peak-Vout were unbeaten with 28 games.
The surprise of the week was Bubwith's 58-50 win against Wigginton, Ian Driscoll and Cliff Harrison narrowly taking the honours with 21. Three clubs on 12 points vie for second spot with Rowntree Park the best placed.
The top-two clash in division two brought a clear 65-43 win for Strensall against York.
Matt Ward and Richard Pears scored an unbeaten 28, while Pete Sutherland and John Logan replied with an unbeaten 23.
Mid-table Civil Service managed a useful 64-44 win against nearest rivals Boston Spa. Phillip Sinton and Andrew Crockett scored eight in each set.
Castlegarth saw off their nearest rivals, Poppleton II by 59-49. Matthew Vines and Jamie Perkins scored 22 for the division three leaders, but Rab McEwan and Tom Cantrell scored six in each set.
Bottom club Knaresborough II were well beaten 82-26 by Bishopthorpe, only two places above. Jordan Cairns and Paul Cook had a good day dropping only five games. John Forster and Ian Hargreaves deserved a mention for scoring 17 out of 26.
The top-two match in division four yielded a decisive 74-34 win for Sherburn against Rufforth. Terry Espiner and Steve Thompson excelled and promotion is nearly theirs.
Wilberfoss should now feel fairly secure after a 65-43 win against Heworth. John Rennison and Dave Smillie scored 25 and three of Wilberfoss' seven sets.
Riccall II's rare win by 70-38 (Steve Smowton/Terry Knowles 26 and Paul Bratley/Noel Shouksmith 25) against Copmanthorpe II means three teams are on six points in the fight to avoid the bottom two places.
Sutton II kept their unbeaten record with a convincing 86-22 win against Selby and went top of division five for the first time. D Nowell and M Pryce scored 31.
Sheriff Hutton took a point from Wheldrake II, who vacated top spot. Both first pairs, Wheldrake's David Fenton and Bryn Jones, plus Kevin Fairclough and Chris Burnham, scored 24 games unbeaten.
Cliffe's position was not enhanced by an annoying 53-55 defeat by Strensall II, despite scoring 20 in the last rubber. Starbeck's promotion prospects stayed alive after a 58-50 win at Nestl, who made a low start going eight down in the first round.
Appleton Roebuck II were the highest placed team on show in division six and 28 games from Denis Farant and Peter Ziegler helped them beat New Earswick II 76-32.
Next Generation also scored 76 against Bishopthorpe II. Damon Deamer and Alan Slee scoring 30.
