KARAOKE king Alan Bromiley was left singing a Rhapsody In Blue when a soft porn movie flashed up on the pub TV screens as he took the mike.
The 47-year-old tiler was delighted when drinkers took notice as he blasted out Dan Hill's 1978 hit Sometimes When We Touch.
Boosted by the sudden interest in his singing, Alan gave it his best shot unaware that the blue movie was playing on the screens.
The audience at the New Inn in Harrogate, cheered wildly as he finished his number - and the film played on.
Landlord John Firth said: "I felt sorry for Alan because he thought he had suddenly become a star. "The only reason people were taking an interest in him was so they could see the sexy goings-on on the monitors. "When he sang the line; 'Sometimes when we touch, the honesty's too much' it brought the house down."
A mix-up with CDs and videos with the karoake system led to the embarrassing mistake.
"It was all very amusing in the end," said regular Alan. DJ Big Dave Elson said: "It was a mistake and at first I was gutted, but everyone seemed to be laughing and joking so it worked out OK. The adult entertainment CD is for stag parties I sometimes cater for."
