CURIOUS North Yorkshire residents will get the chance to have a mystery solved with a special event at a Pickering museum.
Beck Isle Museum is holding its annual finds day on Sunday to help people searching for an explanation of their discoveries.
Gordon Clitheroe, from the attraction, said: "The idea is that we have experts on hand to identify anything people may have brought with them.
"If people have dug up a piece of pottery in the garden, or found an unusual object and they don't know what it might have been used for, the experts can let them know what it is."
Mr Clitheroe said the finds would then be logged so that a record could be kept of everything that had turned up.
"It's nice for people to know what they've found, or what something would have been used for in the past."
Documentation officer Edna King said she was looking forward to volunteering as one of the experts for the day.
"It's usually quite interesting learning what people have found," she said.
The museum finds day will run from 10am to 5pm and usual admission prices of £3 adults, £2.50 concessions and £1.50 children apply.
