Hemingbrough's division three lead was reduced to nine points when they were held to a draw by Woodhouse Grange.

Maqsood Akbar provided the major share of Hemingbrough's runs as he hit 60 with only Danny Wilson 25 making a notable contribution as Simon Anderson 3-40 and spinner Andrew Bilton 3-36 held them to 145-9.

An impressive 16-over spell by Andy Freeman, which earned 6-42, took second-placed New Earswick to a 40-run win at Clifton Alliance.

Earswick made 147-8 with Neil Smallwood making 61 and Dave Heartshorne taking 3-21 in 15 overs.

John Myers hit 26 and one-time Earswick player Chris Dower 37 but Freeman's bowling had the Alliance disintegrating to 107 all out.

Heslington had to thank their Aussie Ryan Elliot who, almost single handed, defeated Yapham by five wickets. Elliott took 6-54 when Yapham took first innings with only Clive Clark 35 and Tim Lazenby 31 standing firm until last man Dave Barnes stayed with Lazenby to add 45 and lift Yapham to 154 all out.

Elliott then took total control as he made 86no in even deliveries to take his side to a winning 158-5.

Hovingham kept well in touch when they overcame Bolton Percy by seven wickets thanks to an unbeaten 54 from Stuart Prest and 33 by Alistair Thorpe. Earlier John Fairburn had claimed 6-39 as Danny White made 35 and Alistair Rigby 37 in a Bolton total of 170.

Bubwith's batsmen hit the highest total of the day when their score of 258-5 gave them a huge advantage draw over Heworth.

Teenager Gary Moore hit 60 but was outshone by Edward Smith who shared in a 75-run stand with Neil Readman which spanned just seven overs. Smith's blitz helped to yield 44 runs off the last two overs as he finished 90 no.

Moore then captured 3-21 and Brian Last took 3-62 only for Richard Woodmansey's 50no to earn a draw.
