FOUNTAINS Abbey and Studley Royal, near Ripon, are holding a week of events to mark 20 years of National Trust ownership of the estate.

Tonight, from 7pm, Yorkshire celebrity Richard Whiteley will host a military tattoo at the estate, where visitors can join the Band of the International Highlanders for pipe music, traditional Scottish dancing and whisky tasting. Tickets cost £9 for adults and £7.50 for children and National Trust members.

Illyria is to stage an open-air theatre performance of Pride and Prejudice from 7.30pm tomorrow. Tickets cost £12.50 for adults, £11 for National Trust members and £8 for children.

On Wednesday, there will be a full feature-length showing of Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets at the abbey from 7.30pm. Magician Steve Rawlings, a regular performer at the Edinburgh Festival, will entertain the audience before the film, so come dressed in Harry Potter costume. Tickets cost £5 for both adults and children. There's more comedy on Thursday, from 8pm, when London's Comedy Store Players present a night of improvisation. Tickets cost £11.50 for adults, £10 for National Trust members and students.

Friday is Folk Night from 7.30pm, when a mix of mainstream, world music and folk will be on offer, including music from The Fureys, Blazin' Fiddles and e2K. Tickets cost £15 for adults, £13 for children and £12.50 for National Trust members - and all tickets include the first drink free.

To round off the celebrations with a resounding bang is Music By Moonlight - Eurovision! from 7.30pm on Saturday. Come dressed in European or Eurovision costume for performances by 1981 Eurovision winners Bucks Fizz and Abba tribute band Bjorn Again and a performance fireworks finale.
