AT Monk's Cross I could hear a lot of joyous sounds coming out of Ryedale Stadium.
It was the York Schools Athletic Championships. So this track and sports stadium which York City FC wants to have relegated to a field somewhere, is being used and, by the sound of it, very enjoyably.
It is not the fault of the athletes that York City allowed Bootham Crescent to be sold from under them. They need to be in a stadium where people can cheer and give encouragement just as football and rugby clubs do, and unless a similar convenient stadium can be built they need to stay here.
