SCARBOROUGH FC chairman Malcolm Reynolds has revealed that he expects outline plans to be submitted early next week - both for the club's new stadium at Eastfield and for a scheme to redevelop the existing McCain Stadium for housing.
"This is very good news for the club as it is the first vital step to ensure our survival," said Reynolds.
"I have always said that as a club we have to generate at least an additional £200,000 each year in order to break even and we have to move to a new site for this to happen- and the good news is that at the present time we have a choice of sites to move to in the Eastfield area on the outskirts of town."
Reynolds was quick to praise Scarborough Borough Council with whom he has been in negotiation for some time.
"They have been very helpful and the delays that have occurred have been on our side because of our problems - not the least of which was going into administration."
Reynolds also revealed that the development of the new ground would be a joint venture with the Scottish-based Stadia Group
"They are a very experienced team who have produced some prestigious developments north of the border-such as the new ground at Livingston - and so we are linking up with a professional organisation."
Reynolds was confident that progress on both schemes would now accelerate and that he hoped to be playing at the new stadium 'within 18 months.'
