POLICE are repeating warnings about keeping windows and doors locked after recent warm weather saw a spate of sneak-in burglaries.
In Fenwick Street, Clementhorpe, a wallet was taken after a thief climbed through an open kitchen window last night.
In Arthur Street, off Lawrence Street, a handbag and cash were stolen after a front door was left unlocked on Thursday morning and, in Wolsey Street, off Huntington Road, another unlocked door let burglars take a DVD player and a game boy.
A mobile phone and cash were taken from a house in Askham Lane on Wednesday afternoon. Again, the front door had been left unlocked.
In Heslington Road, an unlocked rear door was entered yesterday afternoon and a purse was taken. Sergeant Colin Ventress, of York Police, said: "We have told people again and again to be on their guard against this."
